Arnav, Ved and Imran chose to participate in Selestine’s iExplore trip to go Paddle Boarding. The three boys were very keen to get out on the water and curious about what exactly paddle boarding entailed. Initially, they thought they would be spending their 60mins on the stand up paddle boards. However, due to the wind on the day, they were able to split their time between the paddle boards and kayaks. The worked collaboratively to navigate the kayak, which was quite a challenge at first. The wind and current were carrying them away from the safe paddling area, so they had to figure out the best way to paddle their kayak together. They learnt that if they did not work together, then they could not get to where they needed to be!
Arnav, Ved and Imran were able to practice the new paddling techniques that the instructors showed them. These transferred to the paddle boards too. All three boys had a turn to develop their capabilities with this.

The last day with copper
Me and Copper had good day he played on my cars and the cool thing was that he sat on one when i was driving it.Then we clean the garage and made our jacket stand.He still did his wights because he did not want to be a fat little Kea.And then when he went on the running thing he always run off so i went to him and helped him.Then we went on my lap top and watched a Kea doing some trikes he was missing his friends at school but the only person he missed the most was Me Arnav.

Day 2 with Cooper
Me,cooper,dad,mum and my two sisters went to a festibale we where selling ice-cream as well as roty pacle inside it was chicken and patatto.We all so was selling Batter chicken with rice for only $10 and Chicken with rice for $10 to.Over there was 40 stolls there where people raping and people doing capa haka it was so Cool cooper had a nice day to he want and helped out he looked at the money and said to himself if i do some work they mite be the first one to ever give me money so he helped as by counting the money in his head and a little help from me.then after we packed every thing up me cooper and my dad went home and on the why we sower a lemozen.Here is some photo we took over there and the lemo. link

Rahi, Arnav and Shivran's Antarctica Learning Story

The learners in LH1 were given the opportunity to opt into a Virtual Field Trip to Antarctica. Arnav, Rahi and Shivran all chose to participate in this via the education providers LEARNZ. The sessions were run either once or twice daily for five consecutive school days and learners connected using audio conferences, chats, Twitter and video diaries.
Arnav, Rahi and Shivran all participated in the audio conferences and showed curiosity by asking questions and adding their opinions during discussions. Most of the time they were attentive and wanted to talk about things that they noticed while watching video diaries or listening to the conferences.
As a follow up to our daily conferences, the boys had to create a Kahoot quiz to demonstrate their learning and teach it to others. Shivran and Rahi worked collaboratively on sourcing the answers that Arnav was thinking up.

Scratch & Makey Makey Learning Story - September 2015

For the past few weeks the learners have been engaged in an innovation station! The learners were given the choice of 4 provocations which included: creating an Ormibot from scratch, designing an object in Tinkercad to print in the 3D printer, designing a Science experiment or designing a series of code using Scratch and Makey Makey each of which would develop their capabilities. Arnav & Imran and Humaam & Aryan worked as pairs in a foursome in order to share a Makey makey set- such #oresome collaboration! The boys enjoyed the first week of ‘discovery learning’ where they had some choices of tasks to complete to help them get familiar with the coding programme ‘Scratch’ and the extension kit ‘Makey Makey’ and make connections to their prior knowledge. They watched tutorials, tried out their predictions and played around with the various affordances of the equipment and programme, self directing their learning from the presentation. They used the Makey Makey and Scratch to create a game console and a simple musical instrument successfully. For Week 9 and 10 the boys worked collaboratively to design and create an animation using Makey Makey and Scratch programme. In order to piece together the code successfully there was a lot of trialling and prototyping which showed the tenacity and resilience of all boys. They showed their curiosity, thinking and managing self skills by looking at what others had done and making connections to what they wanted to achieve. See their learning below.

Arnav chose ‘Draw it’ for her iExperience in Wk 3 - 6 Term 3. He was to show his design firstly by carefully sketching the animal he chose in detail on paper along with information about this animal. He used the internet to find the information and a picture to help him draw his animal which were 2 different animals in one. He was then to do a final drawing (see below) of the animals he chose. He has used great detail and also some of the 2 animals habitat to complete his drawing. Arnav finished his task on time and was able to explain to others about the 2 animals and their habitats.

This term all learners in Learning Habitat 1 had to deliver a speech or a poem. As Arnav is Year 6, he had to compose and present a speech. He chose to do his speech on the use of devices.
It is a nerve wracking thing to stand and deliver a speech to an audience of peers, but Arnav tried his best to not let this affect him. I was pleased to see Arnav show more confidence than he has when presenting in the past.

The two friends
There was a dragon named Toothless. One day he was walking along the river and he heard a noise.He stopped and started to look around for the noise.Toothless noticed something furry in the bush.He went closer and saw it was a monkey. The dragon said Hi my name is Toothless. I am a black dragon and I can shoot lightning out of my mouth .The Monkey replied Hi my name is Pessy.I am yellow and green.Pessy and Toothless started to talk and became friends. After a while they decided to play hide and seek.Toothless said”i will hide first” Pessy agreed, Toothless asked Pessy to close his eye and count to 20 so that he can hide. Pessy closed his eye and started counting while Toothless ran to hide. Toothless hid in a cave and covered the cave with leaves and vines,it took Pessy hours to find Toothless.At last Pessy found Toothless and it was Pessys turn to hide. Toothless closed his eyes and counted one to twenty ,Pessy ran to hide, he climbed a tall tree and hid there. Toothless went to see if Pessy was in a boat but Pessy was not in a boat . Toothless spent hours looking for Pessy but couldnt find him. At last Toothless gave up and Pessy climbed down from the tree, both were very hungry as it was lunch time. They decided to eat something. Pessy said lets go and eat mango. Pessy and Toothless started to look for a mango tree ,after a long hunt, they found a mango tree full of ripe mangoes. Pessy quickly climbed the tree and picked some mangoes. Both sat under a mango tree and they ate lots of mangoes. After lunch they were very sleepy. Toothless said he is going to sleep as he is very tired. Pessy said he is tired too. Both layed down and soon they were fast asleep.When Toothless woke up. he could not find Pessy. He thought Pessy is again playing hide and seek. Toothless started to look for Pessy,he looked every where but couldnt find Pessy.It was getting late afternoon and toothlesswas getting fasturated as he couldnt find Pessy.He called him but there was no reply, Toothless was very worried because it was getting dark. Toothless called his friends to help him out.All his friends search the bush but couldnt find Pessy, Toothless saw something on the ground, it was footprints.Toothless called his friends to investigate. They all followed the footprint and saw a big fenced. They all couldn’t believe that there is a big fence to crossover. As soon as Toothless touch the fence to cross, he got electric shock. Toothless was okay and said we are meant to jump over the fence. They all had a quick chat and decided that they have to get a ladder to cross the fence. One of the them said they have a ladder at home. One of his friends went to get a ladder from his house, but his dad willing accompanied him to rescue Pessy. When they reach the fence,one friend hold the ladder and one after another they jumped over the fence. Toothless was very excited to see Pessy he was able to save Pessy from the cage. Toothless and Pessy was so happy to see each other and they worked back happily. And when they reach their home,they felt like there is no place like home.They had a happy ending for both.
I wanted to share this story because it took a long time to write.I had to enter a compation and it took a the people got award form a famous witter i think.The people who only entered was the people who was got awards.This story was my first longest story i have ever done in my live.It had to be 600 or 500 word's long.

talent show
On the 28 of August there was a talent show and there where nine people vs. There was Rahi, Henry and Aryan, Kimba-jo and Hannah, Ved, Neha, Gracy and Kavisha and the one that i think that was the best was Henry and Aryan because they one did hip hop moves and the other one did frozen and gangnam style at the end.My Second best was Ved because he play a Gutar and he play a song that was a little bit good and the people who came third because at the end of their show they did any move they wanted and the thing i found funny about there one was they did really cool moves.The person that came second was Neha because she had a clear voice and the thing she could of had in her song was like people doing back round music.The person who came first was Gracy because she had a really good dance that was good with the song and then that was how ever one know woh had talent.

the speech that i liked was kevien because he knew his speech and he had a used his hands.My second best was Aleena because she had a topic that hooked me in and i just liked her speech.My third best one was jahanvis because she came first and she was a new girl.She had hooked me in and she had a clear voice.In a week or two she had a few people going to the APPA Yr 5&6 Cluster Finals she was Representing our school ormiston primary. She was competing against 14 other school's.

GAFE
On 12/08/15 we want to GEG because some of the students where going to present things like how to use Google sites and more things.We want and they give us same bags with pens,the thing that you put around your neck,a withe paper and a book.there where lots of people from other schools and there where other actives i did four actives.The one that i liked was the one where there was this model of a card brod and in it we put a smart phone then there where two holes and in their was two plastic so you can look in it.It was a game ever one i think liked it and when Mrs Dillner had it she want wow that is cool.at the end there was a a game that when you put your name in it they mite pick it so ever one put there name in it. and Anjil got pulled out and she won $20.

ZOO trip
Last Thursday LH1 went on a Zoo trip.There where three groups i was in Mr Dyers group.we want to the porkey pine then the baboons. My favorite animal was the Red Pander because when it walked it looked like it was my pet and it did not look like a pander it looked like a long fluffy thing.My second animal was the babbons because it had a red bum so it can sit on hard things.The animal that was so cool was the cheetah because the spots on it can go up and came back down.

Rahi and Arnav collaborated together to provide a wonderful and inspiration component to the ‘Leadership Experience’ as a long awaited follow up to the NYLD that all the Year 6s attended in Term 2. The boys co-constructed a google slide presentation and speech (which can be found in the Leadership Experience presentation) all about Daryl Sabin. They sparked the curiosity of the crowd with the strong message of ‘stuff happens’ and ‘believe in yourself’’. The slide show showed the amazing pictures of mr Sabin’s recovery from a serious brain injury. They showed us how his father’s love and belief transformed a young man who couldn’t talk or eat for himself into someone who walked and talked to us at NYLD.
